How to work with red henna – a natural hair dye?

Red henna belongs among the most favourite henna hair colours – with colour tones like Wine Red, Copper, Orange a Rose Brown. This article is mainly for alchemists who have worked with natural hair dyes for a longer period of time. Or maybe those who are definitely not afraid to experiment.

● Copper henna includes only pure henna, which lightens the hair and gives it an intense, ginger touch.

● Wine Red henna gives the hair a deep red colour with a vinous touch. Women with darker hair can take delight even in purple afterglow.

● Orange henna colours gives the hair a deep ginger colour. This colour tone feels natural and is very popular among women.

● Rose Brown henna is the only natural hair dye that colours your hair from dark red to maroon. In depends if the hair is light or not. The lightest the colour tone, the more red it will be. It dyes dark hair maroon.

So how do you naturally support the colour outcome?

Lemon is the best in order to lighten the Copper colour tone. We suggest squeezing 1 BIO lemon into 70 grams of natural colour. Infused hibiscus or dried red pepper are most commonly used for the Wine Red henna. Those ingredients will deepen your red tone. You will only need 100 ml of infused hibiscus. We recommend 2 tablespoons of dried sweet peppers. Tea tree oil is suitable for all red henna colour tones, as it will dampen the final tone and provide a coppery touch.

Many women have tried adding honey or chamomile into the herbal mixture, however it dried the hair and didn’t alter the colour tone. The honey made the hair gluey and the camomile damaged and broken.

What is your experience? Do you use natural admixtures or are you satisfied with regular colouring?
